Do You Need An Extended Warranty?

Do you need an extended automobile warrant?  The answer for almost all people who purchase a vehicle is “yes!” Many people think they don’t need extended warranty automobile coverage because they feel that the basic warranty that came with the car covers almost everything that needs to be fixed in the future. They could not be more erroneous in their thinking.

The problem is that most things about a new car are not covered by the manufacturer.  Ultimately once that warranty expires you are left vulnerable to paying large repair bills.  People also don’t realize that their warranty does not cover entire systems in the car, like the break systems. They also don’t even think of the impact of what constitutes “normal wear and tear” on thinks like shocks, seals and switches in your car. That small stuff not covered in the basic warranty really does add up over time.

Extended repair bills are not just about paying the big repair bills once your auto warranty expires.  Extended auto warranties also come with all kinds of other perks that make the new car owner’s life a lot easier such as toll-free road assistance.  An extended warranty should be shopped for with an eye to these types of benefits in mind.

For instance if your car goes out of commission then it could be in a repair shop for weeks. In the meantime renting a car could be costing you tons of money. A good extended car warranty will cover this cost and it should definitely be on your list of things to look for when shopping for auto warranties.

Yet another cost that should be covered by a good extended warranty is the cost of towing. Towing fees can really add up for you if your new car is faulty.  Basic warranties never cover things like trip interruption and toll free assistance.  Many of the extended warranties also cover the road assistance that may be needed if you somehow manage to lock yourself out of your car or lose your key to the car.

Even if your car is very expensive and have a very high quality you may still need that extended auto warranty.  This is because the expense of your car does not necessarily include “better” warranties even if you are presented with some kind of marketing gimmick that says it does. No matter what you will almost always find yourself buying some kind extended or unlimited warranty to feel completely protected from having to pay exorbitant bills if your car should happen to break down.

The reason you need auto extended warranties is that they prevent you from the inflation that comes with costly repairs. The most common repairs that newly bought automobile requires are fixes for the air-conditioning, transmissions and electrical systems.  Some people find that this sort of thing tends to fail very fast after you buy a new car to the extent that they are almost guaranteed to fail.
